Our Beliefs

Wondering what we believe about God, the Bible, the Christian life, salvation...? Scroll down to read.

What we believe:

About the Scriptures:

We believe the entire Bible is the inspired Word of God and that it is the final guide for spiritual truth.

About God:

We believe in one God who exists in three distinct persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe that Jesus Christ is the second member of the Trinity (the Son of God) who became flesh to reveal God to humanity and to become the Savior of our lost world.

About Humanity:

We believe that all people were created in the image of God to have fellowship with Him but became alienated in that relationship through sinful disobedience. As a result, people are incapable of regaining a right relationship with God through their own efforts.

About Salvation:

We believe that the blood of Jesus Christ, shed on the cross, provides the sole basis for the forgiveness of sin. Therefore, God freely offers salvation to those who receive His gift of faith.

About the Christian Life:

We believe all followers of Jesus experience freedom living for Christ and not for themselves. Through obedience to Jesus as Lord and daily yielding to the Spirit of God, every believer matures and grows in faith.

About the Church:

We believe that the Church is the body of Christ, of which Jesus Christ is the head. The members of the Church are those who trust in the saving work of Jesus Christ. God has entrusted to the Church His message of reconciliation so that all who are far from Him may be brought near. CrossRoad is a member and shares the doctrinal teachings of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod (LCMS).

About the Sacraments:

We believe that Jesus calls His followers to be Baptized and to regularly receive the mysterious union of his body and blood with bread and wine in the Lord's Supper. Included with these sacraments, Jesus promised the forgiveness of sins, the Holy Spirit, and new life. We trust the promises of Jesus and process the mystery of God's work through simple water, bread, and wine to bring such great gifts to His people.

About Marriage and Sexuality:

We believe that from the very beginning of creation, God gave his people distinct identities as male and female (Genesis 1:26-27). God also established the institution of marriage between one man and one woman as a life-long commitment (Genesis 2:18-24).  Jesus reaffirmed his Father’s purposes and intent for marriage (Matthew 19:4-6) and the apostles continued to teach the same (Ephesians 5:25-33).
